Master/Servant Contract
ok these are the notes I had written for the contract. PRETEND THIS IS ALL TRANSLATED INTO ACTUAL LEGALESE, AND THE POINTS SYSTEM IS IN HERE, RECORDED IN LOVING DETAIL AS THEY PREVIOUSLY NEGOTIATED. I'M NOT GOING TO QUITE THAT MUCH EFFORT. BUT HE TRIED HARD. last updated 5/14/14

Master/Servant Contract:
- Togami Byakuya consents to become Furudo Erika's Servant (as defined by Court) under the below terms
- Furudo Erika likewise consents to become Togami Byakuya's Master (as defined by Court) under the same terms
- Provided these terms are not otherwise violated, the only obligation of either party is to fulfill the other's objectives; if a period of one week passes and one or both parties have not had any objectives fulfilled by the other, they may request immediate attention, with the contract being considered void otherwise
- The only exception is if one or both parties are completely incapable of fulfilling objectives for this period of time
Authority:
- Erika will be permitted limited authority under the terms of the points system. However, this authority should be viewed as a service to Togami/a mutual benefit, rather than Togami's obedience being wholly in service to Erika
- In essence, abusing the points system to treat Togami as free labor is prohibited, and it may incur a penalty to be negotiated at Togami's discretion
- Both parties are expected to be open and honest about their relationship when in the presence of others, without concealing their partnership, or acting as if it is a one-sided or unwilling arrangement. This does not prevent any expression of negative opinion, but it cannot deliberately exclude information to create a biased view.
- Togami will also freely be able to take independent action without requiring Erika's permission, unless that would violate any other part of the contract or any active orders
- Orders that span longer than 24 hours are prohibited in order to protect these rights
Injury:
- Neither party may be able to physically injure the other
- Manhandling that has negligible lasting consequences is permitted without penalty
- Minor but lasting injury (on the level of drawing a noticeable amount of blood, or noticeable bruising) may incur a penalty to be negotiated at the injured party's discretion, but will not be considered an immediate violation
- Any injury major enough to require outside medical attention or Theater payment will invalidate the contract
Exclusivity:
- Both parties shall feel free to fulfill objectives or associate with others without concerns of "infidelity" or invalidating the contract
- However, they must inform the other party if they are involved in any other ongoing relationships (defined as a relationship where one seeks out another deliberately and repeatedly to fulfill objectives)
- Though there is no particular action that is reserved for the Master/Servant partnership only, this relationship will be privileged over others in case of a conflict, and if there is a chronic problem of ignoring each other in favor of outsiders, it may justify a penalty
- Furudo Erika is free and encouraged to accept new Servants with only two limitations:
1) No future Servant is permitted to hold equal or greater rank/privilege than Togami; either they will have stricter terms than the terms outlined here, or Togami's contract must be renegotiated to allow him greater privilege, to reflect seniority
2) The matter is discussed with Togami beforehand and is given his formal approval
Honesty and Confidentiality:
- Given the unique circumstances of Court, no breach of confidentiality will be considered a violation of contract
- However, both parties are strongly encouraged to protect the privacy of the other and of any actions taken together in private, and leaking information may incur a penalty to be negotiated at the injured party's discretion
- Information about either party's circumstances outside of the context of Court will also be considered confidential by default, with the same penalty policy
- Both parties are obliged to honesty with each other, however, and deliberate deceit will be grounds for terminating the contract. This does not include reluctance or refusal to speak, which is acceptable with no consequence.
Penalties:
- A "penalty" for infractions (described above) may take various forms, as long as it is acknowledged by both parties as a valid penalty. Potential penalties include:
a) An order that rewards no points and may not be refused (as long as it adheres to this contract)
b) Denial of association or objective fulfillment for a period of time less than a week
c) A "strike" with no immediate effect but lasting indefinitely
- If either party incurs three "strikes" then the contract is considered void.
- Strikes may only be removed by the party who originally gave the strike, for whatever reason they deem appropriate, so long as it is completely of their own will
- The penalty system is in place to avoid excessive exploitation of the contract. This system cannot be removed from the contract without another failsafe replacing it.
Contract Amendments:
- This contract may be amended at any time with the consent of both parties, provided neither is under the influence of any substance or effect during renegotiation (including high-level objectives)
